remarks
Martijn Schinkel's work can be characterized as investigative and idiosyncratic. Human inability to communicate effectively, the tension between rationality and the emotional world, and research into visual language are recurring themes in his work. His films are characterized by a great attention to, and care of, the image. Within his films he wants to create an exciting and associative experience that is also accessible to a wider audience.
